How I miss My The Best Holidays In Rosmaninhal-Portugal as a child

And it is with great pity that Rosmaninhal is decreasing in visitors. Most residents are getting old, as the younger generation tend to move away from Rosmaninhal, to look for a more guaranteed future in other countries or other parts of Portugal.

Most people are no longer attracted to Rosmaninhal not as much as they used to be.

I remember the big parties that were always popular in August and Easter that were so accessible and engaging.

The parties still occur, but over the years the enthusiasm received from the local emigrants is slowly fading during the festive season.

That is Irene sitting on her doorstep watching people go by, and that is how the little old ladies of this Village always spend their free time.
In my heart, Rosmaninhal is a place unmatched by any other in Portugal. I love to go back there whenever I can and visit my family. To take beautiful pictures and to remember and feel all my ancestors that lived in this beautiful place. And right there in Rosmaninhal is where they left their imprint.

The precious people that leave our lives, they never really leave us entirely. And it's right here in Rosmaninhal, that I still look for them, even if I don't see them.

The Magnificent Beauty of The Village

Rosmaninhal has a stunning immense and breathtaking landscape. The character of those who built these houses speak to us. It is present in each slate stone of each house, in each road, each cobblestone of the sidewalk, each and every house we pass. And when we walk up to reach the highest point of the Rosmaninhal. Where the Church is located, it's right there that we can imagine the pure passion of our ancestors for this place, for this superb landscape that takes our breath away. How I enjoy the look of the beautiful and typical slate stone houses of this part of Portugal.

Rosmaninhal The Fountain

On This Picture above, there is the fountain I use to go with my grandmother to fetch water when I was a child.

I decided to write The Best Holidays In Rosmaninhal-Portugal article because of my immense passion for this place.

The walks tI took as a child with my cousins in the fields surrounding this beautiful land pictured here. And here I discovered the rare natural beauty of this Portuguese charm.

This video bellow brings tears to my eyes. In my heart and mind, this journey has been made thousands of times. I enter the village, and I follow these streets loaded in beautiful memories.
And I follow each street to the Church and look for my dear mother's grave and the most precious people I lost. That's where they live today, and where I sit on the floor by their graves and cry the endless torture that I feel for losing them. It's in the cemetery where they are today, but their memories live in every corner, in every street of this Village.

VIDEO ROSMANINHAL -by A.GARRIDO 2017

For me, this place Is Right In The Center Of My Heart!
I was not born in Rosmaninhal, nor even grew up there, but spent almost all my childhood holidays in this beautiful place. A Place that I treasure so much.

The wall of the churchyard from there, you can enjoy the magnificent panoramic view of the entire Village.

Walking around that wall, we have access to a breathtaking landscape. Just like a lot of people that live in Rosmaninhal, I also surrendered to its charms. All this beautiful landscape and the human involvement concentrated in this beautiful land. It is a lovely corner, quiet and suited for a great relaxing vacation.

History shines within this village, and anyone who has its roots here certainly feels the same pride as me. It was in Rosmaninhal that my mother was born and where she lived, not all her life, but many years until she died. My grandmother also was born in Rosmaninhal and lived there all her life. And so did all my family before them. And in Rosmaninhal I still have my cousins and my godmother. This place is where I feel at home and where my roots remain.

Rosmaninhal Three Crosses Chapel
It may be a small village that seems to have stopped in time. But it remains the place that brings me peace, joy and at the same time a lot of sadness too.
The sadness for the loss of those who no longer wait for me with open arms, that hug that I miss so much.
If it's true what they say that your home is where your heart is, then it's in Rosmaninhal where I belong. In This Video bellow are some of the old faces of people that I met as a child, many moons ago. Watching this old video, I remember them fondly. Most of the faces that I no longer see there when I go there, they are long gone. They are the old lady’s I will talk about shortly, my childhood memories, seating outside my Grandmother’s house. They are all part of my cherished memories.
My Greatest Childhood Memories Were There in Rosmaninhal.
The Summertime and Easter holidays are the most significant and precious memories I have from my childhood. The best Christmas that I had as a child were the ones I spent in Rosmaninhal. With my grandmother, uncles and aunts, my cousins and my father and my mother, my sister and brother.
Nothing can ever compare to the happiness I felt there.

A Picture Full Of Warm Memories

Rosmaninhal Night Picture Of Rua Das Escolas
So many fabulous nights I spent in Rosmaninhal, I remember sitting by my grandmother's door, surrounded by old ladies that lived nearby. They all would bring a chair and seat outside gossiping; they gathered in groups near us every single night until bedtime. Sometimes singing songs like on the video above, other times they would make me sing for them, they would reward me with ice cream.  Some of these ladies I am talking about I see singing above on the black and white video above.
The stories, the experiences lived in this Portuguese nest. That is what I call this treasured corner of Portugal, my nest.
They would spend the whole evening telling witch stories or funny stories from their past.
The funniest stories were those of Ti-Maria Megilda who lived near my grandmother. They were almost inseparable friends.
Every day they would get together pranking each other.
Rosmaninhal A Road View

Every corner of those streets of Rosmaninhal has a thousand stories to tell. Every angle reveals secrets, and every look has its mystery.

And That is How I see Rosmaninhal!

Each kind face, now aged, brings me a wave of memories of the old days.

Beautiful this Portuguese village and for those who have never been there, they needed to know that it exists!
